Local Beaches
Woodend, as the crow flies, is only about five miles from the coast and there are some sandy and fairly quiet beaches along the coast not too far from here. They are certainly worth a visit, especially if you want to take the dog for a walk and a bath!
Seascale
Miles of sandy beach with views across the sea to the Isle of Man and the Galloway mountains of Scotland. At high tide you can comb the shore for treasures and at low tide walk for miles on the golden sand.
Drigg
There is a small carpark and then a vast remote beach when the tide is out with sand dunes full of wildlife. If you go early in the morning you may walk for hours without seeing anyone.
Silecroft
A gently shelving shingle beach extends in both directions as far as the eye can see.
Low tide reveals a vast expanse of sand, suitable for kiting, horse-riding and other activities.
